SCF continue good start with win against Leigh Road

By Matthew Verrinder

SCF defeat Leigh Road to make it 2 wins from 2

SCF proved too strong for Leigh Road easing to an 8-0 victory with a strong all round team performance.
In Leigh Road's first SCFL game of the season, SCF started quicker and deservedly took the lead inside the opening 20 minutes. Leigh Road fought back and hit the crossbar following a swift counter attack down the right but SCF made them pay for that miss with 2 clinical finishes from Callum McLean before HT to lead 3-0 at the break.
Leigh Road came out strongly to start the second half but couldn't convert their pressure into goals and SCF took control soon after with a thunderbolt from Jason Jones.
As Leigh Road started to pour forward in search of goals, SCF picked off their opponents on the break with goals from Ryan Oldfield, Reece West, Adam Fellows and a third for Callum McLean securing the first hat-trick of the SCFL season.

Away from the football, both sides shared in a minutes applause before the game in memory of Tom Wallace, a Leigh Road regular who sadly passed away last month. The game was played in fantastic spirits throughout and was another excellent reminder of what the SCFL is all about.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's family, friends and Leigh Road teammates following this terrible tragedy.
