An SCFL League record 8 teams entered the competition in 2017/18, with West Leigh Baptist FC and LifeStreams FC entering for the first time joining previous entrants ATF, SCF, Shoebury Baptist, Leigh Road Baptist, Hawkwell Baptist and Rayleigh Baptist.
ATF were the dominant force in the league competition, losing only once in their 14 league games and scoring 65 goals in the process, with striker Ash Jenkinson claiming the league golden boot.
West Leigh and LifeStreams both fared well in their first seasons in the SCFL; West Leigh becoming the SCFL's draw specialists with 9 draws in 14 and LifeStreams picking up 3 wins over established SCFL sides.
Shoebury and Leigh Road contested the SCFL Cup Final, where Shoebury edged a tight game to win 1-0 and lift the SCFL Cup for the first time. A fitting way to finish Rich Watts' time as manager of SBC.
